Examples include models that estimate their own uncertainty, reinforcement learning agents that adapt policies based on reward feedback, or systems that monitor resource usage and adjust execution strategies. This form of self-reference is functional and mathematical, not phenomenological, and is distinct from consciousness or subjective experience.
