Stephen Wolfram

Stephen Wolfram is a British-American computer scientist, physicist, and businessman. He was born in London in 1959 and showed an early talent for science and mathematics. He published his first scientific paper at the age of 15 and received his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Caltech by the age of 20. He is known for his work on cellular automata, computational complexity, symbolic computation, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing. He is the founder and CEO of Wolfram Research, which develops Mathematica, a powerful software system for mathematical computation and visualization. He is also the creator of Wolfram Alpha, a computational knowledge engine that can answer natural language queries using curated data sources. He has written several books, including A New Kind of Science (2002), which explores the implications of cellular automata for various fields of science and philosophy. He has been recognized as a fellow of the American Mathematical Society and an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Department of Computer Science.
